Wheatgrass has well over a hundred vitamins, minerals, amino acids, antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and enzymes when juiced properly.  It is one of a few super amazing completely natural foods that fully supports the body.  Many don't enjoy the taste of it, as it does taste quite a bit like grass, which it is.  Here's our favorite recipe for a sparkling wheatgrass juice cocktail that delivers the greatness of wheatgrass while turning it into a energizing and refreshing beverage.

This recipe comes from our book, I am Grateful (the recipes of Cafe Gratitude)

Makes 2 cups

karin

This spicy soup is as delicious as it is satisfying!  Try it as an entree with some raw bread, or a salad.

Makes 3 cups, serves 3-4
2 cups carrot juice
1 large avocado (save a bit for the garnish)
1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon minced ginger
1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon lemon juice
½ jalapeño pepper
½ teaspoon chopped garlic
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
5 mint leaves
15 large basil leaves
1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon olive oil
Place all ingredients in your blender. Purée until smooth. Taste and adjust seasonings if necessary.
Pour into three or four bowls, and garnish with a mint leaf or a thin slice of avocado.
Note: to gently warm this soup, simply blend a little longer. The friction alone will create heat.

The Sunfood Diet Success System

I so highly recommend the wondrous book by David Wolfe: The Sunfood Diet Success System.  This book is an awesome resource for the science behind, the power behind and the results from living foods.  David has a great way of bridging together the hard science and the easy-to-digest explanation of raw foods.

In The Sunfood Diet Success System, David Wolfe puts together a masterpiece of introductory lessons in raw foods and their impact, on the importance of healthy enzymes and the impact of eating mutated foods (allergies, chronic pain and even terminal illnesses).  Not only does he have the know-how in the impactful way that raw foods impact the body, but David also lays out plans for how to transition successfully or experiment with raw foods, how to plan cleanses for yourself, weekly menus and full recipes.  Below I bring you a few of his recipes for rapid results.  These work sort of like teasers to introduce impactful eating for some of our everyday health challenges.  Try some of these out the next time you might otherwise reach for an over the counter drug.
