“How do I have my event at a Café Gratitude location?”

“How do I apply for employment with Café Gratitude?”

Each Café Gratitude location and the Central Kitchen and Central Office hires its own staff.  That means, if you’d like to apply to more than one of our location, you’ll need to submit a COMPLETE application to each location individually go to our employment page and print and complete our employment interest form AND our application.  Then you can bring in (or fax) these two documents with an (optional) resume and (optional) cover letter to the location(s) of your choice.  Please follow these instructions, to create an easy & workable application process for our beloved managers.

“Can I volunteer or intern with Café Gratitude?”

Café Gratitude thanks you for your willingness to participate!  However, we do not accept any volunteer work unless it is affiliated with an internship program through a recognized educational institution. “Are there franchising possibilities with Café Gratitude?”

At this time we do not offer franchise opportunities.  We are currently exploring possible future models for financing expansion and models for growth.  To become involved in the business expansion, or to ask questions on this matter, we request that all interested persons attend Matthew and Terces Sacred Commerce Workshops.  Here you can get answers to you questions, connect with other business community leaders.  Check out our workshops page as well as our online store to see what's available to you already!  Also, we highly recommend reading their book  Sacred Commerce:  Business as a Path to Awakening.  This phenomenal book outlines what's possible in creating your business as a Sacred Community engaged in a commercial exchange that values all of it’s participants.

“How do I speak to Matthew and Terces Engelhart?”

Currently, Matthew and Terces spend most of their days on Be Love Farm in Vacaville, CA. They are creating the infrastructure on that land in order to share their teachings of Organic Farming, Biodynamics, Sacred Commerce, Kindred Spirits, and The Abounding River with the community at large.  They spend their days planting crops, harvesting produce for use in Café Gratitude, and they have begun construction on the first building on Be Love.  When they are not farming, they are supporting the management team and employees to run a very successful transformational restaurant business.  And when they are not leading this movement, they are spending quality time with their five kids, three grandkids, and their beloved extended family.  There is a high volume of inquiries and requests coming their way.  The best way for them to connect with people is through their workshops, where they get to spend 1-3 days with you.  Thank you for understanding and patience.  If you have a question, please email their assistant Marta at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. “I am interested in the Be Love Farm. Can I take a tour?”

Tuesdays are Farm Visit Days!  Please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to arrange for a visit to the farm.  We ask that you arrive by 10am and bring a water bottle, hat, sunscreen, appropriate attire, good working shoes, and gloves if you have them.  No pets permitted.  You will meet with Matthew and go over a brief introduction to the farm.  Be prepared to work until lunch at approximately 1pm.  Lunch is a "family" gathering and shared farm meal.  Be prepared to work until 4pm.  On sunny days you may want to swim, so bring a towel and suit.  We look forward to seeing you!

Very soon, we will be opening the farm for a set amount of hours per month for public tours with farmer and Café Gratitude founder, Matthew Engelhart.  Once these dates and times are set, we will post them online. For right now, we are not hosting people to come and see the farm just yet. The five residents (including Matthew and Terces) are working very hard to create the structures on the farm to enable us to share Be Love with community members. Thank you for your patience.

“Can I work at the farm?“

Currently we have all the help that we need on the farm.  Thank you for your interest & enthusiasm.  We are considering creating an internship program for Organic Farming.  Once we create a program, we will post it online.  Thank you again for your understanding and patience.

“My group is having an event.  Can you offer us a donation of funding, food or a gift card?”

We are committed to generosity, community and providing healthy organic food available for everyone. We will be continuing our successful pay it forward "I Am Grateful Bowl" at all our Café Gratitude Locations.

We began offering the "I Am Grateful" Bowl in January of 2009, in response to widespread economic challenges in our community. Every day, we serve this "pay it forward bowl" of fresh, certified organic, whole food to over 200 customers in the San Francisco Bay Area. So far, we have fed over 19,000 grateful people in 2010! We are proud to be a community resource for love, generosity, transformation, and self-care. The feedback we are receiving from the community about the "pay it forward grateful bowl" has been moving and profound. It is making a big difference in the lives of many. There are families that are able to eat healthy, nutritious, and organic food that otherwise would be unaffordable to them.

Until further notice, this will be our ongoing contribution to the community: everyday, every bowl, everyone. Together we are demonstrating our oneness and the power of GIVING and RECEIVING. Many people have donated towards this program and we want to thank you for your continued support!
